STEMBoard is committed to closing the achievement gap by empowering historically underrepresented youth to build transformational technologies. The STEMBoard team designs and delivers demonstration-based technical curricula for K-12 and college students that mirror real-world challenges.

Hands-on Workshops

Bridging the gap between hardware and software, STEMBoard workshops expose students to programming concepts and microcontrollers. Lessons focus on subject areas such as ethical hacking, encryption and other topics aligned with the skills needed to work in Government and National Research Laboratories.
GOALS
Gain an understanding of cyber-analysis, monitoring traffic and new perspective on protecting critical infrastructure.
OUTCOME

Hack<IT> Camp

Since 2014, HACK<IT> Bahamas has provided an immersive STEM experience for Caribbean high school students. With focus on technology entrepreneurship, the camp lets each student select an engineering track and apply their knowledge to an issue of great social impact. The event culminates in a pitch competition before tech experts and invited guests.
GOALS
To increase students' understanding of electrical, computer, mechanical engineering and entrepreneurship concepts.
OUTCOME
The program empowered students to develop a technology solution to solve a community problem.

The DHL Solar Energy Challenge

The DHL Solar Energy Grand Challenge is designed to provide a hands-on experience for teams of students to fully immerse themselves in solving real-life solar energy problems.
GOALS
For students to develop an innovative low-cost mobile solar solution that harnesses solar energy to improve efficiency at DHL facilities throughout the Caribbean.
OUTCOME
Students came away with understanding of how energy-focused technology can be used to improve the local and global community.

Hack It Summer Camp To Host Budding Tech Entrepreneurs

Since its inception four years ago, more than 300 students throughout the Caribbean have participated in programmes designed and executed by STEM Board and its partners. Past keynote speakers have included Barrington Irving, the first Jamaican and the first black man to fly around the world by himself, as well as astronaut Dr Bernard Harris Jr, the first African-American to walk in space.
